November 2019 – Rotary Foundation Month

Dear respected fellow Rotarians,

November is dedicated as Rotary Foundation Month. We are to “promote” all the good work done by the Rotary Foundation and to “ask” for donations so that we can all continue the good work in our community and around the world.

During the past four months, we completed two global grant projects: Concentrate Language Encounter training to the English teachers and HIV/AIDs Home Base Care Training.

In additional, we also joined one participating project at the handover of Eye Inspection Mobile Unit for people in rural area.

Currently, we are implementing one project: Palliative Care Training for people involving with final care patients and aging society.

We are also about to submit our 2 new draft global grant projects, once identifying the international partners: Cultivating Peace in School and Cerebral Palsy training.

These number of projects have been supported by The Rotary Foundation, our International Partner, Implementation Organization Partner. The large amount of financial support is all from The Rotary Foundation.

Apart from using the fund from The Rotary Foundation, we also have to promote the contributions to TRF. Our donations will be well managed by TRF and be carefully considered for using in worldwide projects. TRF has focused on six areas: Promoting peace, Fighting disease, Providing
clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, Saving mothers and children, Supporting education and Growing local economies.

Our donations to TRF every year will be used for global grant projects. In next three years, almost half of our donations will be returned in the form of DDF, District Designated Fund. We can use the DDF for our own created local projects or donate the DDF to other clubs’ projects. TRF’s world fund
will match equal fund to support the approved projects.

On 8 December 2019, Rotary Thailand will organize an annual event, “Run to End Polio” in Phra Nakorn Si Ayutthaya. In the evening, there is a dinner function “Rotary Foundation Night” at InterContinental Bangkok, where donors to TRF this year will be invited to meet PRIP Gary Huang, TRF Trustee Chair.

If you have not yet decided to make your donation, we encourage you to do so.

Yours in Rotary,

Pornchai Wessatada
Rotary Club of Bangkok, President 2019-2020
