President Urs together with PP Charles, PP Chamnong, PP Suraphon, PE Pornchai, Rtn Surah, and Rtn Vasana flew to Chiang Rai on 3 June to hand over 8 violins to the tribal girls living at Sister of Providence Center, Chiang Rai. This was the last community service project done in the year 2017-2018. We were welcomed and had a very delicious Italian home cooked lunch by Sister Jandira and Sister Margaret from Myanmar at the center. The hand over started at 14.00 hrs when we were greeted by 2 beautiful songs from the children. They were very excited when the big box was cut open and in there were 8 violins. One by one each child took it and held it tight. They looked very happy to receive these violins. Many little hands raised up when asked who is interested to learn violin. The children have made our day. We are very pleased that our RCB contribution lifted up their spirits.
We learned that the center is still struggling to make sure that all the children have enough to eat. A Thai temple and people in their neighborhood are the major food contribution to help the center. We hope that the center will get more support from Rotary and other organizations in the future.
