Vocational Service Month

Dear fellow Rotarians,

Happy New Year 2020 and the New Decade.  I hope you had a good time with your family and friends during the holiday season.

We have had a success first half of the Rotary year. In December at our Annual Meeting, our club has chosen Rtn Vasana Mututanont to be President Nominee 2021-2022.  Incoming president, Abdullah Alawadi has appointed his new board members.

A few important activities will happen during this quarter. Our annual fundraising concert will be organized on Friday 21 February 2020. We need members’ support to sponsor and donate to this event. The income will be used for the whole year’s projects. In addition, we also need to distribute around 300 concert tickets. The concert will be performed by our Rtn Dr Paye, Vietrio and Thai Youth Orchestra. We are in the crucial stage to secure more donations and to sell tickets.

Our key project is the construction of 2 classrooms for kindergarten students of Rotary Bangkok School. The school will use our supported budget of 1,070,000 Baht to build the classrooms which we expect to be completed by early March. Moreover, the school is reaching its remarkable milestone, the golden jubilee on 17 January 2020. Rotary Club of Bangkok will join its ceremony and congratulate its success for the past 50 years.  This school was built by Rotary Club of Bangkok at the request of Princess Srinagarindra who named the school with our club’s name.

January is Rotary’s Vocational Service Month. PN Vasana is our Vocational Service Director. She has performed a key role in leading our club through a number of vocational service projects. During the first half year, our club granted scholarships to 4 nursing students of Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing of Navamindradhiraj University and to 10 vocational students of Rajamangala Technological Universities. We gave 4 awards to unsung heroes proposed by Traffic radio FM91. We are about to conclude an agricultural training for primary school students at Ban Ma school in Ayutthaya. There will be a vocational training to needy and underprivileged persons during the third quarter.

There are more work to be done. I am looking forward to working with all members and wish to receive your kind support.

Yours in Rotary,

Pornchai Wessatada

Rotary Club of Bangkok, President 2019-2020
