Rotary Information on August 8, 2019
PP Dr. Charles gave a Rotary Information speech on August 8, 2019. Below is a brief summary of his presentation:
- PP Dr. Charles explained briefly the difference between the Rotary International (Rotary Clubs) and The Rotary Foundation. A short explanation is that the mission of Rotary International is to “service our community” while The Rotary Foundation is a public charity foundation, its mission is to raise fund and uses the fund to support service projects, Polio initiative, scholarship, etc., globally.
- In a layman term, the Rotary International is the owner of The Rotary
Foundation and The Rotary Foundation is a charity arm of the Rotary International.

Who donates to The Rotary Foundation?
Answer: Rotarians donate the most, small amount from Rotarian’s friends
What is the minimum donation to The Rotary Foundation?
Answer: US$25.00
- The Rotary Foundation raised US$ 414 Million in 2017-18, gave a total of 1,306 Global Grant Projects worldwide. It also provided grants for 94 Peace Fellowship and 64 Polio projects.
- Rotarians in District 3350 donated a total US$ 829,622.71 to The Rotary Foundation in 2018-19 of which US$ 35,992.14 was contributed by Rotary Club of Bangkok. There were 27 Rotarians contributed US$ 1,000 or more and 7 Rotarians contributed US$100 or more from RC Bangkok. With a total Rotarians of 87, the percentage of Rotarians contribution in RC Bangkok is 39% with per capita US$ 413.70
PP Dr. Charles concluded his presentation by encourage Rotarians to make contribution to The Rotary Foundation in any amount at any time. The Rotary Foundation has a very credible grant approval management system. For the 11th consecutive year, The Rotary Foundation has received the highest rating — four stars — from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S. The Foundation earned the recognition for demonstrating both strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.
RC Bangkok has been initiating Global Grant Projects as a host and support other Global Grants Project as partner overseas with our sister clubs. We see clearly the international Global Grant Service Projects enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, fellowship and peace worldwide. Let’s start giving!
